Can you make a ‘Change for Nature’ and help save the planet?

Change for nature and be part of the MyNI community, take (even a small personal) action against climate change in 2021.

Keep an eye on our ‘Change for Nature’ campaign activity and we’ll show you how!

In the 1960s during an era of beehives (the hairdo), the Beatles (the band), and the emergence of new fashion trends (the mini-skirt), scientists working in labs around the world were discovering that the carbon dioxide created by human activity had the potential to cause a warming effect on the planet.

Some eighty years later we now know that ‘warming effect’ as climate change. We’ve gone from the theory to the reality – fairly quickly as it happens.

The fact

Climate change is here and unless we all do something about it, our planet will change forever – and not in a good way.

Thankfully there is lots we can do! And not just you and me. All sorts of organisations have the power to make a ‘Change for Nature’ – whether that’s businesses, governments, communities, families, charities, farmers, gardeners, or builders.

If you live in a house, drive a car, do the weekly shop or even just live on planet earth – basically everyone can make a difference.

Throughout 2021, MyNI will be supporting people all over Northern Ireland to get the most out of Northern Ireland Climate Action and make a ‘Change for Nature’.

DAERA

This campaign that is being led by the Department of Agriculture, Environment & Rural Affairs (DAERA), will catalyse positive change in the run up to the UN Climate summit (COP26) taking place in Glasgow this November.

By the end of 2021, Northern Ireland will show how people living and working here are starting to really embrace and benefit from a nature-led way of life.

Scientists say that if we help nature, then nature will help us to become resilient to the effects of climate change and to thrive, in terms of our health and our prosperity.

Scientists also say that we need to change our ways. Our lifestyles today are placing enormous and unsustainable pressures on nature, and are also contributing to climate change.
